Hey. Ive always have wondered what yall think could be the smartest freshwater fish. Ive personally gone for My clownloaches. smart lil things. hehe. eh. What yall think?

archer fish maybe - i mean the thing is smart enough to spit water at bugs to eat thats pretty smart!
i've also seen a movie where arawonas leap out fo the water and pull small birds and little monkys n stuff out of trees - smart!

I am partial to the arowanas on this topic, but I also think that oscars should get some more credit given their unique behavioral patterns- Since this is probably an impossible question to qualify, however, I suppose I am equating "smart" with personality.

I've never owned one but according to everything I've read, the elephant nose is the smartest. They have a larger brain/body ratio than Humans and use a type of sonar to see and communicate. Kyle

The smartest freshwater fish I have seen is the Red Tiger Oscar. They actually watch people - no joking - they do... :)

arowanas are kinda smart so are oscars i heard they can do tricks. but i am going with koi they got the feeding thing down, they vanish once the herons come around, i got a magazine with some amazing koi stories and some i couldnt believe. and they dont eat other kois once they are recognizible as koi.
