I did a water change on my little 10 gallon a few minutes ago and the water smells very fishy.

Everyone is accounted for and the plants are thriving. The last water change was 6 days ago, approx 50%

It is well established and very fully planted with lots of duckweed and frogbit floating as well so I can't imagine I would be having an ammonia spike.

Not sure what to think about it, I usually have little to no odor at all from any of my tanks.

I did notice that my PMDD mixture seemed to have some little bits floating in it that I had never seen before :uhoh:, I haven't dosed since and that was about 4 days ago.

My fish tanks always smell a little fishy... but they are, after all, fish tanks :)!!! I use carbon regularly. I have a fine floss pad and behind that a bag of carbon that gets replaced about once a week with water changes. The carbon will de-stinkify your tank, as well as help keep your water clear. I know others don't use it, for various reasons, but I like it so I do! Plus, I have 5 tanks from 10 gallons to 125 gallons running in the same room on the main floor of my house. I don't want it to smell too fishy lol!!

A "pond smell" is common in some of my tanks after a W/C...actually come to think of it, the heavily planted ones. Certain plants really seem to absorb the smell, Anacharis and Hornwort are two offhand.

I'd run some carbon if it troubles you - but I'm sure the smell is no big deal :)

I don't usually run carbon, but I could certainly throw a bag of it in the little filter. The white clouds look like their scales could be a little rough but I am probably being paranoid LOL.

It just surprised me since I rarely if ever smell anything but a very faint smell from my tanks.

On the upside I cleaned my dining room from top to bottom today so I could start up one of my empty tanks this weekend.
