I was picking out and killing the pond snails when I would find them in the tanks ...Then my husband wanted to have a Snail Fram. So I got a 1gal glass "goldfish bowl" put some gravel, live plants, declorated water, air stone.

Ok! More happenings on the Snail Farm. As I find snails in my tanks I put send them to the farm I have over 12 so far and NOW I JUST saw 2 of the snails mating(I think), one was on top of the other for some time. Does anyone know how long before I will have little snails?

In my experience at least, pond snails go from hatching to maturity/laying eggs in about a month.

Have fun! If you feed them well, you'll soon be overrun!

I don't specifically feed my snails, they just eat the leftover food from feeding my fish (flakes and occasional algae tab) and graze on the algae film on the walls of the tank. I don't feed them anything special. In a snail-only tank you'd have to feed them regularly, obviously.

If your water is soft, you might want to add a piece of cuttlebone or some crushed coral to the tank so they get enough calcium for good shell growth.

once they start breeding hey wont stop. the more you feed the more the population. less food less population. but as previously stated add a cuttlebone or treat with liquid calcium for the shell hardness.
