I'm wondering if my snails' growth is healthy and at a normal rate...it seems awfully fast to me, and looks thin compared to the old growth , but I don't have a lot of snail experience so I thought I'd check in. These are the two survivors from my rescue thread (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180067), my params (using API liquid kit) are ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 15, pH 7.6, and they're eating algae wafers, shrimp pellets, and the same fresh veggies I put in for everyone else (this week is zucchini and collard greens). I plan on putting together a snail jello for them as well. I've only had them for about a week, and you can see in the pics a very definite seam along both shells, about 3/4" of new growth on the blue and 1/2" on the gold, and it's very thin looking along the edge of the gold's opening. I know my ivory has grown quite a bit since I picked her up, but I never saw a seam like that on her and I don't think she grew that much that fast either. I don't know what to think, but I'd like some reassurance as to whether this is healthy/normal or, if it isn't, some advice on how to fix it. First pic is Blue, second is Gold (should be obvious, but I thought I'd say it anyway :P). Thanks!

79.0 F. Should I drop it a couple degrees? I don't think the rest of my fish will mind.

I think 74-76 might be a little better? What else do you have in the tank?

It's the 46 in my sig. I raised the temp to the low 80s for treating ich a few months back, and sand got in my heater's knob so it's a PITA to turn. So I was lazy and only lowered it a smidge (to lower the temp slowly) and never got back to finishing the temp-dropping process. But I can pull out the needle nose pliers and lower it again now that I'm thinking about it and have a reason to :D

Thanks everyone, heater settings have been changed. Now I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and that should do it :P
