The body is not stuck to the tube, but the shell is.... Do I need to push him off or can he get away on his own? Is it bad that he got stuck in the first place, is something wrong with it? The snail is about the size of a quarter. Occasionally I also find him floating at the surface of the water, circling with the flow of the filter....Is that unusual?

The floating thing is just surfing, basically. It's normal. Dunno about him being stuck on the tube.

I had that for a while, I lost many snails to it. But they have sinced learned (over the generations) not to go there.

Can the "make" themselves sink somehow?? I felt so bad one day b/c the snail had been floating in circles for hours at the top of the tank, that I grabbed him out and held him at the glass for a second and he popped right out and suctioned to the glass, like "I've been saved!!"
