so i've got some friends that are setting up a 30 gallon for some pond snails and mystery snails. but they want a fish that will help keep the pond snail population from going crazy.
what fish can they put in there?

yeah but pond snails are free! haha!

would one dwarf puffer be okay? i know they eat snails.. but would one be able to eat the entire population?

DO NOT, and i repeat, DO NOT put any fish in the tank that eat snails, AT ALL. Loaches, puffers, cichlids, any aggressive fish will all hunt and kill your mystery snails as well as the pond snails. If you want to control the pond snail population, you'll need to do it manually.

I cannot stress this enough. These fish will not only eat BABY brigs, but they will kill your adults as well. Even the dwarf puffer will attack the adults and kill them. They're small but very aggressive. Many snailers have tried to create the situation you want, with a fish that controls one snail but not the others. It's always ended tragically for every snail in the tank. Please do not try this.

You'll need to use baiting and manual removal to control the snail population.
