So I have a pond snail problem (they hitched a ride on some plants I bought).

I am considering getting loaches to get rid of them but I figured I'd try something else first.

I previously tried cucumber but I just left it floating and didn't realize I should have weighted it down so that did nothing.

I read somewhere previously about putting lettuce in a tupperware container and cutting a hole in the tupperware and leaving it in overnight?

Does anyone know the exact process of what I am talking about there or if it works??

Input appreciated.

All I have right now is a tupperware container and some lettuce so I figured it's worth a try tonight if you guys tell me how it's to be done.

edit::: also if this doesn't work what fish would you suggest I get?? These snails are driving me INSANE.

(my tank consists of now: 5 balloon mollies 15 neon tetras, 5 albino cories, 4 julii cories, and 1 german blue ram)

Theres a process something like the tupperware container but with a pop bottle. I believ you cute off the top and put it inside the bottom and they cant fugure how to get out. personally non of these methods have ever worked for me >.< I still have pond snails. Buy a puffer, they will love you for life! lol
or Ive heard loaches are good as well

I would LOOOOVE a dwarf puffer but would that work for me?? On liveaquaria.com they are listed as "aggressive" and all of my fish are super peaceful...

Would I only get one dwarf puffer or would I need more than one? How many could I get without being overstocked?

As for the loaches, I really only like the kuhli loach and I have heard they are hit or miss for eating the snails. I have heard the dojo or clown are the best for eating snails but I don't really like the way they look...

I am loving the puffer option if it would work!

I have a snail problem in my tank. It seems I am growing about 50 new ones each day, LOL. I posted about this and was given the pop bottle fix to try. I have and it works for me, to a degree. I modified the bottle cap so that fish could not get trapped which happened the first night.

The trap is getting 10-30 snails each night.
