ok as some of you know i have a small Q tank that i put snails in(i think i might buy a diff Q tank and just keep this one as my snail tank) i put them in last night with some water from my fish tank. this morning the water is cloudy. i put a peace of zucuni in there but i don't think that would cloud my tank. there is a snail in there that hasn't moved at all (i think its dead) can that cloud a 7"x4"x4" tank in 12 hours?????

Yep--I'd pull the dead one, and throw in a handfull of gravel, or squeeze a sponge filter from your tank tank in to kick start the bacteria. Won't take much.

oh its not cycled i never though of that. i am useing water from my tank but i didn't think about cycleing it for snails

there 6 in there right now (its not cloudy since i took out the dead one) all i have a a ph test and its 7.6

EDIT:PS its ok to put one of the snails in my Q tank to help keep it clean right?

The snails are very sensitive to most medications from what I have read (Newbie). Plus if there is fungus or whatever from the quarantine fish it will get in the snail shell and will just recontaminate the tank whenever the snail is put back in. So you may be giving the fish you are quarantining anything that previous fish had. As I say I am a newbie and have just 1 apple snail. But I pulled him out to salt the goldfish. I also had some problems with very small amounts of what looks like a piece of hair floating in the water. It went away when I salted the tank but as soon as I put the snail back now I have a few hair looking pieces in the tank. And I have seen them come from the shell. I hope this helps. Please correct me if I am wrong. A fantasic snail care page. http://www.applesnail.net/

ok right now there (the glass cats) in there to make sure they DON'T have anything on them but if they do i'll get rid of the snail.
