so hes taking back his cichlids

yea it is a shame
i will tell him whats up...and we will see from there

this is the 2nd time in this building ive helped some one out and i wish they would read or ask before getting fish

many people think its a fish and if it dies, i can go buy another one

i had a fish die on me the other day, one of my fav goldies due to fin rot and i cried..and almost killed the cats

Wow I can't believe I'm reading this.

Why don't you tell him the midas is sick and keep it. By the time its healed up maybe you can convince him to let you keep it.

I don't know where you live but a heater isn't always needed. 4 of my 5 tanks aren't heated though they are tropical fish, am I a bad fish keeper? The tanks sit around 78-80 year round so a heater wouldn't do any good. The one that does have a heater only has one because the canister sits near an AC vent and I don't want the cooled air affecting the water temp.

Send him an invite to the forum and let him read. Maybe he'll end up with a tank even you are envious of afterwards.

Part of being in the hobby is helping other people out with advice etc. as you're now learning.

many people think its a fish and if it dies, i can go buy another one

Sadly this is so.

i had a fish die on me the other day, one of my fav goldies due to fin rot and i cried..and almost killed the cats

It happens - cats are and will always be cats. Its good that you're not going to be responsible for the midas as he would not have suited your plans for the African tank. Keep your chin up work with what you have.

i doubt he will physically harm you for giving advice. it is jailtime if he does. no reason to be afraid of suggesting advice. if he listens, it was worth it. if he doesnt, you tried. you have to do the right thing... we are in this hobby for our love of fishkeeping.

One of the best pieces of advice(AND one that keeps giving) is to pass on the link to Aquaria Central. http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/ It will literally open up a whole new world of people to get advice from. (And dole a little out, if ya can. ;))

I'd tell him exactly what you should, then leave the ball in his court.
