so the 2 cichlids and the midas are leaving soon
leave me with just my tow for now

hes got a 29gal tank to put them in and im not telling him anything about his midas with ich or the fact that there gonna eat each other alive

i really dont think these are his kinda fish...

any suggestions?

Why won't you tell him the truth about these fish? I don't find it a way to encourage him to continue his hobby with less issues. Just tell him the truth and he will be able to rectify his issues.

Doesn't seem right...

hes not gonna know what to do any way
im not gonna sit there and teach him for hrs

his ten gal set up
1 guppy, 1 molly, 1 loach, 1 cat fish bottom feeder, 1 plec, 3 noen tetras, and then theres one more...running on a aquatech filter with no heater

who knows what his 29gal is gonna be, i just feel bad for these cichlids going into it

there loving the way i got the 50 set up

iif i tell him that the midas got it, and tell him what to do, he prob wouldn't understand

he told me straight out that he buys what looks good, not on how they act together or anything like that

i just dont understand why people buy fish without doing the proper research

Well, everyone needs help once in a while...isn't that the reason you ask questions here?

yea, thats the reason why im here to learn

but what am i supost to sya

"im not giving you your cichlids back until you get get a 50+ and get rid of the midas"
"btw your ten is over stocked, under filtered and not heated right"
"your plec, and two bottom feeders are not right and should be in your 30gal"

then he asked can they be in with my cichlids and i would half to sit there and explain that he picked up a bunch of fish that are pretty much useless to him because he didnt shop right and bought them because they are cool.

he would look at me and be like dude wtf....and prob beat the crap out of me
hes ex military and a huge guy and his gf is just as tough

i mean how should i word it to him that his fish are not right

Well, everyone's different I guess, but it would really bother me if I knew an animal was sick and I didn't even tell the owner about it.

Are you not telling him because you really think that's best for the fish?

I guess if he fails and they die, it would make it clear who knew more about the fish, but the poor fish are still going to be dead. It doesn't have to turn out that way.

its gonna be dead anyways...the cichlids that he has chase that midas around alot

i mean ill mention it got sick..and it will prob die ether way

he prob think it was cool that the midas is getting its butt kicked

that midas needs his own tank and you can tell...hes kinda loaner

i was gonna try to buy his fish

and he told me that he seen a cichlid for like 22bucks at petsmart

so i walked away from it...knowing that was a fully grown adult

if i was too keep his fish i would of gave the midas away at petco...

and i thank you guys for the help with the midas when it was sick....hes in great health right now and he looks alot better in color than the first night i got him

You are no better than he is to give him an ill fish and not tell him. You can tell him and once he takes it back it is no longer your problem. You cannot make someone provide proper care but you can make "suggestions" as to what is needed. You can offer to keep them until he makes better accommodations for the fish. Be a friend and not a know-it-all.

You are right that some people thinks it's funny to see a weaker animal get it's butt kicked. It's called being sadistic. If you at least try, then you have done all you can. It's a shame isn't it?
