I managed to see two baby guppies swimming around the top of the tank so I just filled up a bowl of water from the tank water and scooped them out and put them in there so they wouldn't be eaten.

My tank has had water in it since last Thursday and fish in it since Saturday so it hasn't fully cycled yet.

What should I be doing with the babies, making a custom breeder trap right now or just letting them get eaten? They may not be able to withstand any changes in ammonia?

Somebody let me know please for as of right now they are just in the bowl waiting.

Thanks

my personal opinion is that if you dont move them out of the tank very soon, they are going to die pretty quick..... whether they are eaten, or fall to the bad water quality, they will most likely not make it that long...

Those little guys are VERY picky when it comes to water quality, and the simply are not tough enough to put up with a cycling tank (most of the time anyways)

So my advice, is if you want to save them, get them out, but if you dont care if they dont make it, then you dont have to a thing....

Go out and get a little net breeder that hangs in the tank. (they're cheap) The fry can stay in it until they are old enough to be released. My fry are in a tank thats cycling and they are doing fine. Keep your eyes peeled because if you have any good hiding spots there could be more fry in there somewhere. Crush/powder some of the fish flakes to feed them. They should be ok.

Yes, do get a breeders net and I reccomend feeding them First Bites by Hikari about 5 times a day. i have done that with my babies for a long time and they did exaptional and now they are doing even better in my 10 gallon. Keep us posted!

Yeah, I just got some of that last week and they love it! Its better than my crunched up flakes. I loved my guppy fry explosion, gave me a legit excuse to get another tank. hehe
