I would like to have a go at breeding egg laying fish. Preferably cichlids. My water is more suitable for africans but my tank already has inhabitants so im worried they will get killed. I hear that yellow labs arent that aggresive and my inhabitants are mainly rough and tough fish anyway. Tiger barbs rainbow shark etc. i was thinking of getting 4-5 and getting some breeding done with them. If they are out of the question, what americans will do well. Firemouths? festivum? Any ideas would be great.

Convicts are great starters. Many a fishkeeper has bought some of those and discovered them passionately protecting a rock or cave where eggs have been left

They will fight to protect their young, as will most cichlids, but the other fish are likely to pick a fair few off.

There is also a bn plec but he always stays out of trouble. 2 yoyo loaches. I know there should be 4+ but they were the last 2 in the LFS and are like brothers. 4 types of rainbowfish. 1 of them is red 1 is bosemans (spelling?) and 2 unidentified but similar size ones. They are very active and never stay still.

somthing around 35. I know im overstocked but i can put some fish in my 20G. There will be planty of rockwork and hiding places in the 35G

I would not expect too much success in a community tank with that makeup. Anything small enough not to kill everything else once it lays eggs will be too small to defend it's clutch. I tried it when I first started breeding. I might as well have spent four months trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

I would suggest dedicating a tank to breeding. It doesn't have to be elaborate. 10g, sponge filter, heater, sections of pvc for shelter (you can skip the substrate and light). A pair of dwarf cichlids and you're off. Try shelldwellers or some of the hardier apistogrammas (cacatuoides and borellii are both known to spawn in moderatly hard water)

I cant buy anymore tanks and none of them are free to use.
Is there any other fish i can breed in my 35G? What about a few kirbs. I have planty of hiding places for them and theres room for them. How about it? If not are there any others?

If your going to be lucky enough to breed in a community tank as soon as eggs are layed then the breeding pair is most likely going to kill just about everyone else. I've bred convicts, and green terrors and that is what happened in my tank. Either that or your fry will get eaten.
