How Soon We Forget

It merited it's own thread as I thought this sidebar from 125gJoe's original link to a Canadian newspaper was pretty interesting, as well:

We protest...Canadian police are being mean to us terrorists

This Canadian news story, too:

Have pity on us terrorists...we've been in jail for a while

A lot of Canadians forget that their country, per capita, put more soldiers into the crucible of WWII than any other allied nation (as far as I can tell, using regular math). Some of them, captured early in the war, endured over 5 years of confinement at the hands of their Axis captors (solitary confinement, forced labor, poor nutrition, harsh physical torture at the hands of the SS)...you didn't see these tough Canadian troops attempting to commit suicide on a regular basis like these captured terrorists. The captured Canadian troops strongly believed in their cause (victory over the Axis), hung tough, and returned w/ honor. Yet, we see these news stories w/ an appeal of sympathy for terrorists.

I know WWII ended over 60 years ago, but I still say "How soon we forget."

First: The whole world is watching what any country does to anybody they arrest regarding terrorism. So, you know the police are extra careful as to not do anything while they are in custody.

Second: ......nevermind...won't get political.

What (capitalized) "Axis" are you referring to here?

I believe he was referring to the 'Axis' which was around in WWII which consisted of Germany, Japan, and Italy.

Ok, as usual, I am too lazy to look up the numbers (c'mon, it is sunday!) but I believe Russia holds that title. In one battle alone they lost 600,000 troops.
