Sony is overpriced.
Sony is better quality, has better customer service, looks better, and is more known for how much everything they make is awesome.

It depends on how much $ you have. If your willing to spend the extra, Id get the sony, otherwise go with the HP. :thm:

PS
Keep in mind that even if the two computers have the exact same parts (although sonys probably have better motherboards) sony's production is most definately better and more consistant that HP's. Thats why a toshiba with the same parts as a sony is 1/2 the price. Your paying for the care taken while putting together the computer and where they get the parts.

I have been in computer sales for the last 5 years. We sell both HP and Sony.

You get more bang for the buck with HP. It really matters what model you get and what all you get inside of it.

I have had the choice to use either one and I and my family all use HP.

I may be a bit late, but I agree 100%. Take a look at the PC specs from Sony vs. those from HP. You'll notice the HP models do have more options and better equipment in many cases (such as faster processors, more RAM, etc.). Don't get me wrong, Sony is very nice, but too overpriced for what they offer. I was torn myself around November, but I ended up choosing an HP desktop and I've been very satisfied with it. I bought their high end Pavilion Elite d5200t desktop with the full works. I looked into Sony's laptop with far less features, smaller hard drive, slower processor, and slower graphics card for about $800 more. After I was willing to give up the portability, the choice was obvious.
