I have 4 that like to breed but they eat there eggs as fast as they lay them. One pair breeds but the other pair eat the eggs. I have divided these fish for 8 weeks now and no eggs. The only thing I can do is put the little group back together and see if they work there magic again. Any one with an idea on these little jems?

Gouramis usually do best breeding as a trio of 1 male and 2 females. It's probably the extra male that is wreaking havoc based on my experience with gouramis. I would try putting one male with the two females and see what happens.

I have 1 male 1 female. When I first got them they spawned like 2 times in a matter of a few months. If I left the parents in the male would guard the nest from the female but slowly pick off eggs as he guarded it. I seperated them next spawn and the fry lasted about a month, they were very hard to keep alive. They haven't spawned since, but one thing I learned is the fry are really hard to keep. Even at a month they were to small to eat BBS and were eating only insfuria the whole time.

If the male was picking off eggs, they were likely unfertilized. With all anabantoids (gouramis, paradise fish, bettas, bushfish), it is best to remove the female after spawning. The male generally will be overtly aggressive toward her as he doesn't need or want her help to guard/tend the nest. She just gets in the way distracting him. Once the fry are free-swimming, remove the male.

BTW, the tiniest size of Golden Pearls from kensfish.com would be appropriate replacement for infusoria. It's shape causes it to stay in the water column for a long time simulating bbs behaviour.
