Spectrum food by New Life

I am using Spectrum Thera+A food in my Angel/Ram tanks.
I called the company to find out the exp. date, it is not on the jar.
They said 3yrs shelf life, I said, what if the package is open, they said same 3yrs.
It says its all natural, I would think it can't last 3yrs.
Anyone??

Depending on how much you got...in 3 years you should have a new batch.

It'll depend on how you store it. Generally though it wouldn't surprise me if it's over 2 years.

I usually buy the bigger cans of it and store the excess in 2 zip locks in a freezer.

I've got some Spectrum Optimum thats been around about 18 months with no noticeable degradation . As long as it stays dry and sealed it wont hurt anything but the nutrient content will not be what it once was.

The thing is that you don't know when it was packaged, but it seems like they just came out with this product about 10 months a go. Mine is about 6 months old, good idea with the freezer bags.

I keep all my fish foods in the freezer.

Once air hits it, the fats begin to break down (go rancid). Unopened pkgs may last longer. Freezing will slow but not stop the process.
