I'm gonna be transferring everything from a 30 to a 55g at the end of the week. I plan on moving a bunch of substrate, all decor, filters w/ same media etc. I threw in a sponge filter today, in maybe 2/3 days will that filter be seeded at all, to aid in the bacteria growth in the 55 when i make the switch?

Thanks!

you don't have to do anything, just move it all over, and then top it off for the '25' gallons. if there is any reason you aren't moving all of the substrate, it may be in your best interest to put all of your old substrate into containers and put those containers into the new tank, so they're easy to remove.

will you be adding any more filtration to the 55? or were you seriously overfiltering that 30? if you're upgrading to a newer filter, you will want both your old and new filters running in the 55 for about a week before you can remove your old filter.

There is about 4 inches of sand in the 30, i'm gonna move a good 75% of it (another fish going in 30) to the 55. 30g has an AC110 and AC70 on it. I plan on using those on the 55.

Should work.........:)
