you can count on it eating them !!! the Spotted Gar is a huge fish .. it grows to 3 feet and weighs 8-10 pounds at maturity. yours may be small right now but unless you're prepared to buy a 250 tank at a minimum, this is not a fish for the home aquarium.
it needs a constant supply of live or meaty foods. these fish are predators that belong in the lake, not your tank.
