Hey all,
I will be leaving for spring break and wont be here to feed mr. fish (girlfriend named him). How should i go about making sure he is ok? He cant go with and theres no where to put him. Will those ammonia factory "weekend feeders" work for a better? Anyone?

I guess I am not quite clear, you are asking about feeding a betta while you are on vacation? What type of tank is he in? If it's a bowl with no filter, I would not put in a vacation feeder (actually, I don't use those at all). I would make sure his tank is clean before you go, feed him normally before you leave and then clean his bowl when you get back and feed him then. I have left all my fish for more than 7 tanks and darn if the tanks don't seem cleaner than when I left :)

Yes i will be gone and the fish needs fed, i assume. Hes in a 1.5 gallon with an airstone/undergravel setup. any thoughts on what or how to feed him? Ill be gone about 8 days.

Can you not take him home? My daughter had one when she was in college. She put him in a drink cup and then in the drink holder in the car...and brought his bowl home. You might not want to bring the whole set up home, but maybe your mom has a clean glass bowl you can use temporarily while at home. After 8 days in an unheated dorm with no food he may not be alive when you get back.

I would more about heat than food. You fish can last a week without food. However, if you are in a dorm you need to make sure mr. fish won't freeze. If you are in an apartment then maybe someone can come by just once or twice to feed him.

totally spaced on the heat-he has a heater but costodial comes around and unplugs everyones stuff. He may go home in a cup. thanks all.

you can transport them but it's really stressful and unnessesary for only 8 days he'll be fine with out food.

talk to the custodian and let him know the fish needs to be left alone

leave a note on the door too just to be sure

might help if you promise them you'll unplug everything else
