Well I just picked up my 135 gallon tank so I designed my stand & canopy today, I'm going to have my cabinet shop build the doors and side panels for me.

Here's the look I'm copying

Here's my CAD drawings with and without dimensions

I design and build homes so I will be cheating and having my cabinet shop build parts of it as well as stain and spray the poly for me.

This is going to sound a little elementary but I think you solved my concerns on how to more easily move my 225 tank and stand from the back yard where they are being refurbished into the house later. Two sets of wood floor dolly's brilliant!

Its really great when you have not only the skills but the resources to DIY from scratch, very elegant looking.

When I bought the tank I kept stressing over how to get it in the house without relying on friends to not drop it! by chance we were shopping in Opry Mills Mall where they have a Workshop Tools store, while I was in the store I looked those Dolly's for about 3 seconds before they were in my hands! I unloaded it by myself. I will need help lifting it up to the stand but that should be ok.

Thanks for the compliment

Oooh! Im going to subscribe... same measurements as my big tank... and my stand if ugly!

Your welcome. I have the trucks I just need to make the frames. But since my stand is only 25" high, almost the exact height of my truck tailgate where the 225 tank work is being done (glass replacement). I plan to truck the entire combined 425 pound, 25 inch tall cabinet (reinforced & refinished) + 30" aquarium (strapped) 20 feet across the patio. Over the sliding glass threshold using a floor jack, and into the house, then floor jack the trucks from underneath all with the help of just one close friend.

That is a really great looking stand, but I'd have a lip on the stand to cover up the black rim of the tank. I hate seeing that when they are a different color then the stand. I've built mine and of course they aren"t close to that one..good luck

Thanks for the tip, I too hate to see the black rim of the tank! the top 3/4" piece is above the bottom of the tank but I will have to add a piece of shoe molding or something to cover the rest I guess.

CWO4GUNNER that's one GOOD friend you have there! good luck & be careful.

Well my doors arrived today from DOORSANDPULLS.COM

I will be starting to build the stand & canopy this weekend.
Here are some pics of the doors. I am building a home that is about to be trimmed so I ordered some nice trim pieces to dress it up like in the picture Im basing this build from.

Doors for panels on sides of stand & canopy to dress it up, I will make them swing too for more access

Here's some of my trim samples I show clients when designing their home. Im using some fluted and several other types to REALLY trim it out nice!
