Im buying a new Deep Blue 48x24x16h tank. The stand that Deep Blue sells is only 30" tall. For a tank this shallow and this wide on a 30" stand it looks like your looking down on a koi pond. So im looking for something talled but all the 36" cost way too much. (Unless someone knows where i can get a 36" tall 48x24 stand).

So i decided to diy a stand and am wonder if now that i can pick my height will 40" tall be too high? Im worried about maintenance being difficult over a 56" total height?

I think a regular 55-75g is 20" tall on top a 30" stand thats 50". Is the extra 6" pushing it to far?

Height is all about you. Where will you be viewing the tank from if it is a display tank? And as for maintenance, it will be what is comfortable for you. Do a mock up out of cardboard with a cutout about the size of the tank. See how easy it is to get your arm over and down to the imagined bottom. Sit around the room and see what the viewing issues could be.

Hi
That sounds like good advice. Might add that if it's to be a high maintenence tank such as heavily planted you definitely need to get to the entire bottom a lot lol I have a similar problem with a 125 i want to build into the wall and viewed while standing but think it would look much better in the center of the wall in all directions That would put the top at 60 inches above the floor I made up a cardboard model and it's going to require a stool. Since it will be viewed from two different rooms it really complicates everything. Good luck with whatever you decide!!! gary
