After having a possible ich case with one of my clowns, I now have a qt set up and ready to go. I ofcourse cleaned it out after medicating my clowns...My question iss about incoming fish. I know people say to quarantine their new fish for 2-4 weeks, but I was wondering if there is a standard treatment (other than watching for disease) that can be done. I know medicating with no diagnosis isnt good for the fish, but are there some ways to get rid of common problems with out having to wait for visible signs?

In my expierience, a lot of fish will come in without any diseases... so in my opinion it would be pointless to do anything other than keep the tank clean and fish well fed unless you have any symptoms.
I second that. It's also beneficial to get to "know" your fish and its personality and habits. You can inspect your fish without it hiding behind live rock and you can make sure it has a healthy appetite before entering your main tank.
I kind of disagree with that. Even though I'm relatively new, I've already learned how bad having ich in your tank can suck and how it's even worse to have bowls and pots all over the room with water and coral and live rocks everywhere, and then how it's STILL hard to get your damned fish out of the tank, even when everything else is out of the tank already.

Maybe I misread it but I thought the OP was asking it they should prophylactically treat their incoming fish as a preventative measure even if the new fish are not showing any signs or symptoms of a disease.
