any help???

thanks

a quick list of a few that are, brittles, serpents, fromia sp, most asternia sp.s, and linkias. Most others that you would buy are not. Was there a particular type you were thinking of?

I really like serpent stars in a reef tank and have always kept one. They are very hardy and not destructive. The sandsifting star on the other hand I would pass on as they are indiscriminate about the fauna they eat in the live sand and while they may not wipe out the beneficial fauna...they can do some harm. I got one and after further reading returned it to the LFS. Another star you will hear of is Asternia. SOme are bad for SPS and others are fine in the reef tank. Ihave many of them and they don't bother my SPS.

brittle's and chocolate chip are he only main stars any LFS have here without having to special order and wait weeks for something to come in.

i had a brittle that only lived for a few months and started to loose his arms and then died a few weeks later....kinda scred to get another since i dont know what caused it...

i like the purple linkias ......but it falls into the have to order section...

as far as choice......between the brittle and the linkia's i would REALLY like to have a linkia or 2..........

Linkias need large tanks with lots of live rock for feeding and are more sensitive than brittle stars.
ALso, your brittle probably just wasn't acclimated right. They are pretty darn sensitive, especially to salinity changes. You should drip acclimate them extra long and make sure your sg is around 1.025-1.026 for them to do well. They are also sensitive to waste.

yeah think im gona stay with a brittle....since i can readily get them....

my tank is a 75g are they good together as groups or just get one?

im trying to buid up my cleanin crew in this tank.....but untill i get my dwarf lion out i cant add any shrimp...

I too want one of those colorful starfish that would chill on the glass and not kill my coral. The closest I've found are the fromia stars but there are all sorts of issues with all of them. I'm reading that most fromias or linkias die pretty quickly.
