starfish like gorgonian

so I was told by a lfs person that my star would not harm a gorgonian... and now my star (chocolate chip) is trying to suck on the gorgonian (yellow w. purple spots, not bloomed since I got it). I got the gorgonian on about 4 days ago, and it hasn't bloomed yet. I have some marine snow to feed it but haven't fed it yet... I was under the impression that the polyp-like things had to come out in order for it to digest the food... please help!!!! should i just take it back?

chocolate chip stars are not reef safe and will eat anything they can. corals included

Yup, they eat corals,softies, snails, crabs,"anything they can catch." Not sure it's the gorgonian I'd take back .

You know...I have two gorgonians (fan corals) and one of them hasn't bloomed for like...forever. The other is on this every other day thing. Their colors haven't faded or bleached out so I have to assume they're alright. What kind of lighting do they do best in?

it depends on the type. do you have a speciea name? some need very very intense lighting while some (like mine) are nonphotosynthetic

You know what? That's a good question. I seriously don't know what the scientific name for them. Their practically identical; I've never seen fan coral this nice except in the movie: Finding Nemo. Is there a website where I can find fan coral (gorgonian) so I can match them up?

Chocolatechips arent reef safe.. doesnt matter what the circumstances are.. take it out
