I am looking for ideas for stocking my tank. I have been playing with the idea of shrimp (I have tiger shrimp right now and a certain person on this board is selling RCS dirt cheap) for awhile, but I am not so sure that I don't want fish... I would prefer to stock some critter or another that will breed and that i can buy CB. While I doubt I could kill enough critters in my small paludarium to deplete a wild population somewhere, I would like to do my part when possible to reduce the pressure on wild animals.

Currently, I have the previously mentioned tiger shrimp, Malaysian trumpet snails, and a clown pleco. Water PH is 6.8 and I would like to keep it right around there (nothing that likes alkaline water).

So, throw me out some ideas!

Yeah, clown pleco was in a larger tank before I moved. I was supposed to have a larger tank set up already, but that has not happened yet... I don't particularly want to take him to the LFS who would pay me for him (I would bank on him/her/it dying quickly), so I am trying to find another home/set up the other tank pretty quick here.

Whole thing is 20gal high

so this is the potential ptf setup? Awesome. If it is coldwater for the ptfs I suggest pygmy sunfish, small livebearers, or cold-tolerant killifish. All of these may get eaten but will establish a breeding population.

Those Pygmy sunfish are pretty sick looking. I was also talking to someone on here about possibly Endler's and my tiger shrimp. I have never been into the killis, but maybe this would be my time to get into them...

I will hopefully have my frogs finalized Monday or Tuesday. But yeah, PTF's are still a contender.

Check the feeder shrimp tanks at your LFS for some awesome nano fish who will do well in that setup; bluefin killifish and swamp darters are both pretty common stowaways in such tanks. You can usually get them free or for the price of a feeder shrimp, and they aren't wild caught; they breed in the shrimp ponds.

I will do that Notophthalmus. I think I may have seen those darters in the shrimp tanks at my LFS before now that I have taken a look at pictures of them. I'll have to get over there this week and check em out again!

i only see cool fish in saltwater shrimp feeder tanks. anyways the least killies i have sound good, but i think thers too much potential for you to find a good fish. do you live in the nice warm part of califonia, or the cold mountainy part

Warm for the most part. I live in the Central Valley, so it gets over 100f in the summer and drops to below freezing(at night) during the winter.
