just got a really cool 2 galon for my B-day (early) i also got some flourite gravel :joke: ! i was planning on putting lots of plants in it (after the brown cloud of stuff settels from adding the flourite) and keeping a betta.
my question is- will i be able to add any other fish? and if so what types?
coffee! :coffee2:

Congrats on the flourite. I wish I had some. How much experience do you have with fish?
Of course, most fish require aeration, so you'd have to take that into consideration if you want anything other than a betta.

ive had my 10g for about a year now, but considering its condition (over stocked by like a billion) i dont think that really counts... but i do have a brother that is helping me w/ the tank who knows/cares more about it than i do
ps- nice tank & how do your betta and your guppies get along? i thought that male bettas attacked male fancy guppies!

Vetro, I want to do the same thing. I wonder if some white cloud minnows would go in with the betta. Maybe someone can tell us!
I get a DRs Foster and SMith catalogue, and they have some little filters and heaters for tanks this small...would be good for the fish to do this.

in responce to the airation/ filtration problem- the tank has a built in filter (bio wheel mini) and is very adequately filtered!
i really just wanted to know my options, so far white cloud minnows, and neon tetras seem plausible, but how many... and are there any other options, like could i have 3 mini cories in such a small tank?

She's a female betta and she's been a good community fish. I only ever saw her nipping at the guppies during feeding time the first week or so. I guess it depends on the individual fish.

A few neon tetras might be okay on their own, but I think it would be overcrowding if you also have a betta. MAYBE one betta and a cory. I had a betta and a rubber pleco in a 2 gallon once, but I didn't have the pleco too long. I think the general concensus will be a betta and some shrimp or the like.

sorry about the gender mix up- but thanks for the info! i plan to add something to the tank soon (doing big water changes until the cycleing is done) so wish me luck!

cute kitty on the avitar
any way, ive got my heart set on getting a beta, so unless they dont eat frogs....

have you considered any snails (ie Mystery/Apple Snails). I just bought a 2 gal today and I'm going to stock it with a few ghost shrimp and two or three mystery snails and a few plants.
