I have a 75g planted tank that currently has 12 cardinal tetras in it. I have a quarranting tank with 22 rummy nose tetras waiting to move in. 6 peppered and 6 panda coming in 2 weeks to be quarrantined then move in. Plan is to then get 6 discus.

Is this stocking level alright? If yes what would you suggest for top level or just stay with this.

Thanks.

I think you are at the limit for a 75 (4 foot length?).

2 Emp 400 biowheels
with your future stock, you might want to add on a canister, especially because youa re adding discus. the Mag 350 Pro system would be a good choice.

your tank wouldnt be overstocked, but it wouldnt hurt to make the quarantine tank a show tank after you add the discus to your 75 how big is the QT tank? if its big enough, you could put the cardinals in there as a species tank. that way you have less strain on your bioload, whcih means cleaner water for the discus

Does the canister filter hang on the back like the Emp bio filters? I have never used one. QT tank is 20g. Runs with another bio wheel and sm sponge filter from the established pond. This is my first time with tropical fish. I have a 100g indoor pond with 6 orandas in it.

that tank could easily fet all 12 cardinals once your discus are in the big tank.

Discus like their water warm, warmer than either paleatus or pandas. I would suggest you get sterbais instead.

Discus do not like much current and this should be considered in choosing filtration.

Cards will work fine with them.

You should plan on doing 3 wc a week with the discus.
