I'm toying with the idea of a ten gallon brackish tank. I don't mind devoting an entire tank to one inhabitant. I just don't want to be forever having to supply snails or other live foods, although supplementation is okay.

Any ideas? I'm looking for something unusual. Like a toad fish or something really strange. If I'm going to devote a whole tank to one fish, it has to earn it's place.

10g might be to small for a toadfish, the few types im familiar with would be to big anyway.

How about going full salt and getting a mantis shrimp? Some of them will do fine in a 10g.

Whoops, I meant a frog fish. Might be smaller. Would have to research.

At this time, I'm not ready for full marine. Can't afford it either now.

Is there much of a cost difference between FO marine and brackish?

If the smaller brackish ones are similar to marine ones then the minimum take size is probably going to be a 20l.

For a single predator in a 10g the only extra costs of full salt would be about a cup of salt per water change.

maybe he just doesnt want marine... bumble bee gobies are cool but not unusual. maybe 1 or two indian mudskippers? check ***************** there are some there.
