yes and in long shipments it can cause extreme stress on the fish. i used to order from a whole sale that did that half the fish would always die...switched to another and the problem was resolved...quality was better but add that without the stress of copper and u get better fish....i never Q my fish...dont have problems at all, but its best to....matter of opinion and resources u have.You don't want copper in your water it'll kill your inverts
In my opinion I would go with the Blue Tang over the Sailfin. By blue Tang, I assume you mean the Regal? Sailfin's can get rather large (over a foot!) and it's generally recommended for tanks over 100 gallons.
The Whitecheek Tang does not tend to do well in captivity. The A. nigricans is usually referred to as the Whitecheek. If you read post #3 here you'll see what I'm referring to:

With the Bengaii Cardinals I'd go for 2-3 of them. The Firefish tend to be jumpers so I'd make sure you have the top/overflows covered!
I'd also increase the number of inverts with many more snails and hermits.
Exactly. Maybe when you get your new tank you can use your 29 as a QT? It has many more benefits than just attempting to prevent ich.

Hmm.. they are selling Acanthurus japonicus as a whitecheek tang. Does anyone else have anything else to say about white cheek tangs not doing well in captivity? And yes I mean the regal tang. Naw the 29 gallon will be a sump. I will probally Quarentine ATLEAST the tangs in a large bucket. I don't really like the sailfin, my sis picked it. I will probally switch it for a blue or a yellow. I'm not getting the Cardinals BTW. Isn't the white cheek tang Acanthurus glaucopareius? They are selling it as a powder brown. It has a white crecent under its eye, and a white crecent seperating it's mouth. Also should I quarantine 1 fish per bucket?
Hey there. I'm not guessing about the Tangs- it's documented on a few sites. Apparently the A. glaucpareius was the older name for A. nigricans. Anyway, here's an article written by Bob Fenner- he can explain it a HECK of a lot better (and less confusingly) than I can!

As far as QTing, you can absolutely QT more than one fish at a time in the same place. When you say bucket, do you mean like a Rubbermaid or something? Is it something where you'll be able to the fish well? How long do you plan on QTing?

Lol sorry 5evy, I wasn't trying to say your wrong just trying to see other people's opinions(?) I was actually aiming for the A. nigricans. Anyways do you recommend any other tangs to go with a yellow or blue tang in a 100 gallon? I plan on Q'ing fish for 2-3 weeks. Would it be a good idea to put a sponge in the main tank for a week then putting it in the QT when you need to use the QT? I know the QT wouldn't need to cycle because you are just using tank water, but the bacteria on the sponge will help stabilize the QT right?
Didn't mean to make you think you thought I was wrong (did that just make sense?). I was confusing myself with those two! And my girlfriend thinks I'm wrong often so...can't argue with that.

With the QT, are you planning on having any sort of filter? Moving the water won't help bacteria-wise. Moving some of the sand and filter media, if you have any, should do the trick though.
