i have a 5 by 3 ft tank with bolivian and german blue blue rams, 2 wagtails some cardinal tetras and a pleco.
theres a few things id like to add i was wondering you guys thought about an african butterfly fish? there are no other top dwellers in the tank so i was hoping this would be ok.
i would love angels but im pretty sure they would become too aggressive... what do you reckon?

ALL oppinions and suggestions welcome:)

1 Bolivian ram ( had three but two died mysteriously shortly after being taken home from the aquarium). 3 german blue rams, 2 wagtails (cant remember proper name) 9 cardinal tetras and two plecos about 1.5". i have another tank for the when the plecos get larger.

I had about a dozen neon tetras. I added an angel and in about two days they were all gone. Found out latter they are natural prey for angels. I can now speak from experience, angels do not mix well with neons. I would assume the same would happen with cardinals, except instead of being out $0.69 per fish you would be out $2.

They have mixed well with everything else I have put them with which included loaches, tiger barbs (I had a large school-one or two would likely kill the angel), gold barbs, platties, mollies, swordtails, plecos, ottocinlus, SAE, gourami, bettas, rainbows, giant danios, danios. The one exception is that if you happen to end up with a breeding pair they are very aggressive when guarding eggs and fry, which is understandable.

Has arcinuke just stated angels naturally hunt tetra. I think it'd be a bad mix. I defiantly would not put a African butterfly in there I used to keep 3 of them in a 55 with saber tooth tetra. The butterflies would attack the feeder fish before my sabers even had a chance to go for them... With your cardinals I think your stock would be taken down very very fast. How about Gourami? Or maybe hachetfish?

I have a 40 gallon breeder and in it i have 4 GBR, 4 tetras, 2 puffers, 8 ottos, and 5 angelfish. They all seem to get along and i haven't had any problems with any fish "beating up" or killing any other. The only issue i have had so far is when two of my GBR had eggs and were guarding them. They chased the angels away (which was kinda funny to see a small fish go after these huge angelfish lol). But so far so good!

I have a 55g with
15 "jumbo"neons
4 medium angels
2f and 1m Gbr
and others.
I love them all!
I always buy the jumbo neons
to go with the angels. My angels never bother them.
I have a mated pair of angels and gbr's.
When they breed both species are aggressive.
both pairs seem to just want the other fish out of their areas.
No deaths or injuries.
If you have jumbo neons you could try it.
I always get the angels when their juveniles to start.
Seems to help with them just getting along with all my
smaller fish as they all grow up in the tank from juveniles
to adults.Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
Hatchets are cool too and peaceful.
