thats perfectly fine,a good gourami choice(IME) is a pearl gourami,i have one in a community tank,she is so beuatiful a sweet.

It seems like it's the gouramie's personality; I've been to alot of websites were people say they've never had problems with their gouramis, then some say that theirs are really agressive.

Also, I researched my banjo catfish, and I looked up several species. I'm pretty sure I have one of the smaller varieties (sorry, I can't remember the scientific name).
