Okay, guys, my 29 gallon currently has:
2 Gold gouramis
2 Opaline gouramis
3 mickey mouse platies
3 male guppies
1 banjo cat
1 dojo loach
3 mickey mouse platy fry

I'm going to have to give away the opaline gouramis to my LFS because they're quite large and if they get agressive I know I'm going to have a problem. The gold gouramies are really small, not much bigger than the platies, so they aren't really a problem right now.... But I'll probably give them away too. Can anyone suggest some nice community fish that would live well with my livebearers?

what kind do you want?there are many that would live peacfully with livebearers.but they would eat the fry.

I use a trap for the fry, it floats and after the mom has the babies I net them up and put them in.... So far the system is working pretty well. The babies should soon be big enough to introduce into the main tank.

Anyways, I'm not a big fan of tetras, but a small school of something colorful would look good. Any ideas?

Yeah, the gouramis were a big mistake. The people at the fish store told me they were great community fish.... *sigh*

well there are quite a few things that you could get,
neon tetras
rummy nosed tetras
1 angelfish
rainbowfish what do you like?

I'm kind of interested in rainbowfish... How many do you think my tank could hold?

you need to get rid of the
banjo cat
dojo loach
and the gouramis then you could get around six rainbow fish,my favorite kind of rainbow fish is the celeb or forktail.I'll find a pic of them.

And what if I kept the bottom feeders (they do quite a nice job of keeping my tank clean and the loach keeps my snail population in check)?

I wouldnt get anything to keep the snails away, they actualy keep a tank clean, these are the types of rainbows you can have.
