What are different combos of african cichlids from lake malawi that I can have in my 45 Gallon. Foot print is 90cm X 36cm. Filtration is 9.0-9.5 overturn per hour.

Thanks.

90cm is only about 3 ft. If you are looking into mbuna than I would only keep one dwarf species. I think Ps. Saulosi are a great choice. The males are blue with black bars and the females are bright yellow. You might be able to keep a small group of syno petricola as well. You could probably have 10 or so Saulosi and 4 petricola.

Yeah, that's a tank for one dwarf mbuna species only. Blue mentioned my first choice for a tank like this: Pseudotropheus saulosi - IMO, you can stretch the number to 12 of them.
2nd choice: Pseudotropheus demasoni - 12 to 14 of them and lots of rocks due to aggression issues.
3rd choice: Any variant of Cynotilapia afra (Cobue or Jalo Reef are my favorites)- 12 of them.
4th choice: Iodotropheus sprengerae (the rusty cichlid)- 10 to 12 of them.
Remember: Plenty of rockwork is a most for any case.

45 gallons is pretty much minimum for an African Cichlid tank.

I'd agree that Pseudotropheus saulosi would work. Keep in mind that the males can be territorial, so I'd just have one in there.

Another option for you would be Yellow Labs (Labidochromis caeruleus). They are pretty well behaved and don't get too big. I've got a bunch in a tank with some Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos, which have been good tank mates (but in a 90 g) and the two look good together.

With any of the Malawi cichlids, if you over crowd them, you'll have less problem with territorial issues, but you'll have to be doing a lot of water-changes.
