...and a few other items in the tank, we have had a 30gal tank for a while now. But definitely consider ourselves novices in keeping fish.
These small white-yellowish 'bugs' are stuck to the glass mostly, and more near the top of the water line. They showed up about two weeks ago.
Everything I find online and talking to the fish store say they are some kind of snails.
The size is 1mm or smaller, they do have a hard 'shell' or crust you can feel, but do not look at all like a snail in any other way.
I have noticed the apple snails going right over them and not scrap them off the glass.
From all the pics I see online these are too small to be a baby snail. We have never had a live plant, the tank has been set up for a couple of years, no new fish in the last six months.
Any ideas?

what is your maintenance routine? Do you have a test kit for parameters? my best bet would be something liek copepods

I did see the copepods info, but mostly related to those with SW tanks. I guess even with FW we could get them. Are they always there, don't understand where they come from to arrive in the tank?
Maintenance: So daily, inspect inhabitants-feed-check temp-check cover
Weekly, check water chem, partial water change and add- rub glass-usually nothing on it,-rinse filter- wipe down lid, pump, light, and outside-vacuum about 2x/mo. (once a week we don't feed for 24hrs)
Monthly, same as weekly-usually 25% water change, pull all wood, rocks, equip. scrub parts and glass, sometimes vacuum.
1-3 Months - depending on salinity tests results- add some salt.
The titration tests usually are in normal ranges, nit's and NH are always low-PH is usually just over 7 (7.4-7.8ish),- water is usually semi-hard 100-150ppm,
No deaths or adds in over 6months. The last fish that died was a 4-5year old flying fox.

oh, i think i found it-Limpets... there was another posting on here where the person had been pointed to snails too, but the reply had a link to another site for aquarium bugs - the up close pic of the Limpet looks like what I have.
Doesn't sound like anyone does anything about them?

sounds like limpets to me. i haven't heard that they are a result of clean water, rather that they are a sign of overfeeding/excess food.
