striped raphael

Unless you have specific questions, your best bet is to go to planetcatfish.com They have a lot of information. I have had them in the past. They are VERY nocturnal. You will never see this guy with any light on unless something is wrong. I really like the way they look and move. To me, it always seemed they were blind when lights were on. Maybe not, but that is what it seemed like. They love caves.

the striped rapheal has been one of my fav fishies since I started. When the one I have now was small I would never see him, have to sit in the dark to see him. Now that he is getting kinda big ~5-6" he will steal the oscars food from him during the day and then go right back to his cave. He even tries to bully around my royal pleco but he doesn't get away with it.

Anyway, there interesting, and as long as you don't mind not seeing him for days on end you shouldn't have any problems with him.....they are not very aggressive, just territorial if you do not have enough hiding spots for everyone in the tank.

Just becareful if you have to net him because he can lock his fins into place and get caught in the net. It is best to catch them in a plastic cup or bowl if you need to move them....and the noise they make when out of the water is normal....they rub their shoulder bones (not sure exactly what they are call for fish) together to make a croaking sound.
