I went to my garden center today in the hope of getting some ingredients for fertilizier. WhenI asked the lady there about a stump remover, she handed me something called Stump-Out by Bonide. Is this the same thing? I couldn't find anything about the contents of the package so I wasn't sure wheter it is safe to use on my aquarium.

Also what is All-Green supposed to be? I asked her about that too, but she looked at me as if I didn't know what I was talking about. (which wasn't too far from the truth :p )

Don't use it until you verify from the manufacturer that it is Potassium Nitrate only! I used something called "Stump Killer" from the store and killed most of my plants and I only dosed it twice! Be very careful!

Here's a pic of the product we use. It should be easy to find...

Thanks alot for the link. And a big thank you for posting that pic. Now I won't feel lost the next time I go looking for it.

I don't know how I ever survived without you guys :D

I also picked up Bonide's Stump-Out over the winter. Having my doubts, especially since it doesn't actually mention nitrate, I posted. The thread (at AquaBotanic, in the mysterious disappearing archive) had a reply from someone who'd contacted Bonide and been warned off:

Toxic, not nitrate at all! Do not use!

I found the Spectracide that Joe posted in the gardening section at Lowe's. Should be able to find it at HD as well, or most sorts of garden centers.

what does stump remover do?

People out there in the world use it to "destroy stumps" (right on the label). Planted folk use it as a cheap and easy source of nitrates.

Okay I shoulda been more specific. I understood it removed tree stumps... thanks for understanding my stupidity carpguy... nitrates ahh yes

thanks for the clarifications guys!

actually, i have had a hard time finding both No-salt and Spectracide stump remover (although I've seen so many other Spectracide products). My search continues.
