Stunted Betta?

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
I've had this one red cambodian female betta for 6+ months and she is only and inch long... she won't grow. I've provided her with clean water, good food, big tank... and the other fish are growing. Do you think she's just small? She's spunky though... She attacks platies that are 3x the size of her. What do you think is wrong?

genetics..?

Would that be just a line of tiny bettas that have tiny children bettas or something in her genetics messed her up?

^ genetics. Just like some humans are tall and some are short, could just be that the betta is a bit smaller than the other ones.

my LFS has dwarf bettas, that simply just stay very small. And they jack up the price and extra $10 for them. Good chance that could be it.

could be one or a combination of many things. growth rate depends on what they are fed and what the water conditions are like especially in the first three months. females are usually sold very early at most stores, about 2-3 months old.
so she could just be a small betta, she could have not had the best nutrition, or she could just be very young. i have some bettas that have doubled in size, but it took them a year.
vary her diet, keep your water clean, and she should grow nicely.
