submersible pump recommendation

I'm looking for an inexpensive pump that I can submerge in a rubbermaid-type container to reload water for PWC's. I'm getting tired of dumping buckets of water into the tank and would prefer a method of using an electric pump/hose setup to move the water from the container into my tank. Is there something I can pick up at a Lowes or Home Depot? Suggestions appreciated.

You can buy a drill powered pump if you want to go on the cheap. ~$5

A penguin 660(or 660r) powerhead comes with an adapter that fits a 1/2 or 5/8 ID hose.
I made a 6" adapter from that to a garden hose fitting to; I use it to drain my tanks.

Same idea works for filling from a bucket, just use a say 6' piece of hose off the powerhead adapter.

Now is the perfect time to hit hardware stores and pet stores for clearance pond stuff. I would check around locally because you may run into a deal. I saw some pumps at Petsmart for 75% off recently.

I have several i use for diferent things my reef tank has one of its own i made from an old powerhead with a round spout, i just went to the hardware store n fitted it with that cheap clear hose and it works like a charm. my garden pond has a couple of submersibles i bought in it.......they are PROUD of those lil buggers though, cheap ones are 40 or more pluss ur firstborn male child rofl. if ya have freshwater tanks though...a python-no spill-drain and fill is the best 35$ youll ever spend at walmart!!! it hooks right into the faucet n u can use the water presure of the tap to drain a tank or just vacume the poop out of the rocks right down the drain. good luck findin sumthin!

I use a Python, too, but I'm sick sick sick of trying to adjust the temperature flowing from my faucet before I start to refill..... I go through gallons of water trying to get the temprerature right.

I, too, want to have a container, 20 gallons or so, under my 40 gallon tank, with a heater to set the temp at 78... and have ready to pump up into my 40 after I've siphoned off 20 gallons.
