Today I emptied the sand out of my newly established 10G. It was not very good sand and it was floating around the water too much killing my filter. I saved most of the water, about 3/4's of it. My question is- will the tank cycle when I add new gravel? If so will it be really harmful to my fish? I made every attempt to keep as much water as I could to make things easier.. not sure though.

Probably will cycle again, but it may cycle quicker because of the water you saved. Also, what filter are you using. Depending on the answer, the bacteria in it could also help you recycle faster.

Yes, it will Cycle again, But you should have enough "good Bacteria" on your filter media, to help out alot. You will see some ammonia levels and Nitrite levels. Just check your water everyday and do water changes as Necessary. To keep your ammonia and Nitrite levels down! The Old water will not be of much help as there is Very little Bacteria colonies in the water itself!
alright thanks. feelin bad cause ive already got a sick fishy. well, ill do daily water changes. i still have all the rocks and ornaments so maybe those will help. my filter is just a standard over the side topfin brand. will that help?

You should expect at best a mini cycle. If you kept the filter media and didn't allow it to dry completely, you should be ok.
