Hi all.
This morning when I turned on the lights of the aquarium I noticed one of my angels was dead. It was my favorite one too so I am pretty bummed. He was fine last night when I went to bed, not acting different or anything. The water parameters are fine. Nothing has changed. I had him for about two months and I never had any problems with him. All the other fish seem healthy and doing okay. What could have happened?

Can you divulge more info?

You covered everything without giving anything....

What exactly are the Parameters since you have tested them?

What did the fish look like when you found it?

What was the temprature of the tank?

Even if you think you are wasting your time by posting all parameters and other info that you know that we do not know.

It is still best to post what the facts you already have.;)

What size tank?

What kind of other fish and how many of each?

Sorry for your loss ,these guys should be able to help if you give them all the info they need , but some times fish do just die a bit like any living creature really so don't get to stressed if you cant find an answer.

Sorry, I didn't want to give you a bunch of unnecessary info, but here it goes:
-55 g heavily planted. DIY Co2, 2.3 wpg light.
- temperature: 78 F
- pH: 7.2
- ammonia/nitrites/nitrates: 0/0/0
- stock: 4 (3 now) angels, 2 otos, 4 cardinal tetras, 3 SAEs and 4 yo-yos
All the other fish are doing great, plants are growing fast. It looked normal when I found it. It had lost the stripes, I guess, but other than that nothing weird. The angel may have died just because it was alive, but I was just checking to see if there could be another reason I am not aware of and to prevents other deaths.
Thank you for all your answers!

any noticeable fin damage?

usually the bars get light if the angel is stressed however, this is not always the case.

I see 4 angels and these depending on age could be establishing dominance or possible pairing.

No obvious fin damage.
How big are they usually when they start stablishing pairing? I think mine are too small, but I am not sure. They are about 2 inches long.

with domestic angles it can happen at age 6-10 months.

you will see some posturing if there is a pecking order is being established.

suffice it say tho
that it is possible with angles to have healthy angels take sudden turns and die.

it's weird but occasionally there are bad batches.

In my opinion.... The temp is a few degrees low..

I have had angels pair of at 2" and lay eggs at 2.25 Length not really a good judge of breeding size..

Also in my opin it just sounds like you had a weak angel. and in that case My opinion would be.. Not enough o2 temp a little low... Maybe some harrassment from others.. not always does harrassment mean there will be visible damage.. Especially in the weak link.. The weak links are fragile anyway and a small amount of the negative strees can cause death..

Thanks for the params.. They helped with my opinionated conclusion ;)
