suggestions for next fish?

I have a relatively new 20 gal. long tank that has cycled completely. It's about 2 months old. (amonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates minimal). So far I have 5 silvertip tetras and 2 sm. clown loaches. Any suggestions for my next fish? Posibly Hatchetfish, or some kind of shark?

Well if it were my tank I would trade in the clown loaches and get something more appropriate for a 20 gallon tank. A healthy clown loach will get to be 10 plus inches in length. A better choice would be yoyo loaches.

hatchet fish are very good jumpers so you would have to have a very secure lid.

Anything shark like will also get too big for your tank. An SAE might be a good choice, plus they are very good at eating algae. (Siamese Algae Eater, not a CHinese Algae eater).
 
how about a group of upside down cats instead of clown loaches...they stay relatively small, and are quite fascinating.

actually I've read that some speices get up to 8 inches.

I was under the impression that Synodontis nigriventris stays pretty small for a Syno. cat....but if you want to keep a group, they might be too much for a 20 gal.
For some reason i'm thinking of bottom dwellers, so perhaps a flock of coolie loaches?
 
well, I did some research, Synodontis nigriventris gets to three and a half inches, a group of them should be okay in a 20g long, as well as a bunch of other fish to go along with it. 8 inches is as far as I know the largest syno, althogh I don't consider myself a catfish expert.
 
I had an upside down catfish in my 55g and he never got bigger than 3 inches. And yes, he did swim upside down, but he was always hiding. I would go with the yoyo's or get some zebra loaches instead. They are very interesting. Also, you could get a snail of some sort or maybe some ghost shrimp.
