Suitable plant relocation

Hey guys, we've been doing a home remodel and other than water changes and feedings, my tanks have been somewhat neglected and my plants are out of control. Thus, I have an abundance of Taiwan Moss and some Amazon Swords that have outgrown my 29g. I am trying to sell some of this, but in the mean time, is there something I can do with them to get them out of my tank so I can rescape and get back to keeping up my tanks? Would they do okay in a 5 gallon bucket or Rubbermaid tote or something? If kept at a reasonable room temp, would they need a heater? What about filtration? Getting the right nutrients?

I am looking for a large aquarium cheap on craigslist or something to use for plant propagation anyway. I will set that up with everything and stock with some fish, but until then...suggestions?

Bucket that gets indirect sunlight should be fine. Dose some ferts. Room temp wont go killing most plants but don't let them get too cold.

The moss should be fine indefinitely; the swords for a few weeks at least. If you have anything delicate or a heavy root feeder, maybe put some substrate in a coffee cup or old jelly/pickle jar and stick that plant in there in the bucket or tote or whatever with a dab of fert to keep it going over the interim.

The need for a heater would depend on the difference between the tank temp and the ambient temp in the room this time of year. If it's more than 10 degrees or so you might want to go with a heater just to be on the safe side, maybe the one you're going to use in the new plant tank anyway until you get it set up.

As mentioned you could probably plant the swords in some sort of pot and submerge them in the buckets/totes. The moss will be fine with minimal effort.

What is "room temp" for your situation?

The house stays at 69 degrees.
