A faulty heater put a crack in the bottom of my acrylic sump. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it without tearing down the entire tank to pull the sump out? Isn't there an epoxy product that can set up and cure underwater?

Thanks!

There are underwater epoxies but none I would use for your sump as they would be bad for your water. What I would try is getting a peice of acrylic bigger than the crack. Then get your sump dry and use acrylic cement to adhere the small peice of acrylic on to the crack. Let that dry for about 24 hrs. and you should be good.

I figured I could glue a piece of acrylic over the crack. Where will I be able to get acrylic and acrylic cement? Are these Home Depot items or am I going to need to find a specialty house?

you could glue another peice of plastic over the crack wont look prity but it wont leak ..

i would glue another peice under the entier sump and make shure it dry when you do it for long lasting results ..

brovo,
I took a piece of acrylic and cut it to fully cover the crack. I then used basic silicone to glue the piece over the crack and seal the edges. 36 hours later, the sump was dry and ready to run. It's been up and going for over two weeks now without any problems. Problem solved, I guess.
