I went out and bought a Sun Catfish for my African Cichlid tank. I took 2 hrs to acclamate him and so far seems happy. He's been swimming around the bottom of the tank in the rock area I have during the day and at night he came out. He's about 3 inches or so and I just think he's cool. Right now everyone is in a 55 gal, I'm hoping one day to have them all in a 75 gal. The people at the store told me if I acclamted him slowly that he should be fine in the higher ph. I really wanted a cat from Lk Mawali, but couldn't afford the $60 price tag, $6 was a lot cheaper. If I ever do get the correct cat, I'll probably move the Sun Catfish to our 125 gal.

Anyone here have experiance with the Suns? I read that they're alot like Channel cats. Do Suns handle being in a NON heated pond?

What are your plans for when it gets larger?
To get a bigger tank and move everyone. Or, hopefully I'll have my pond put in by then and can move it to my pond with some large koi and goldfish and more cats, might even get some trout for the pond instead of koi and goldfish. We are talking of installing at least a 1200 gal pond in the front yard, it'll take up about the whole front yard and hopefully be about 5 feet deep.

I have two sun cats.
I started them out in my 65gal, thinking the would be fine in there for quite some time.
For some reason, mine grew fast. They where tiny little things when I bought them, but grew to about 4 inches in 3 months. I moved them to a larger tank to give them more room.
When mine where younger, they were active swimmers, now they hide in their caves all day and only come out at night.
I have had mine for about a year, they are both about 6 inches long with very thick bodies.
