Swapping filters, need advice please

Hi guys!

Im thinking of changing my Fluval filter, which I have always disliked from day one, for an Eheim. I thought I'd get some advice first though My question is this - Would it be a simple case of dismantling the old fluval system and installing the new filter system, or would I need to do something else as well? I know that the ceramic part of my filter medium holds a lot of benificial bacteria, would I need to add this to the new filter if that is possible? Or would it be OK with brand new medium if I upped my water changes for a while?

run both for about a week, the new one should be ready by then, and remove the old one.

Run both for 2 weeks. 1 week MAY be enough for the filter to grow bacteria, buy why risk of a mini cycle!
