Sword, Ruffle (Echinodorus martii)

I believe this is a Sword, Ruffle (Echinodorus martii)
it has new shoots and roots growing out of the tip of one of its leaves. Should I trim that back and plant the new growth?

that's a java fern, Microsorum pteropus

What it's doing is normal. You can leave the plantlets attached to the mother plant or remove and replant them. They may eventually break free on their own, I'm not sure though. If you stick them in cracks/crevices of driftwood, rocks, etc, they'll attach to that.

Just make sure you do not bury the rhizome in the gravel. The long skinny black roots can be buried- but not the meaty horizontal part that both the roots and leaves attach to- that part is the rhizome and must not be covered.
