Swordtail Fries

My swordtail fries were all born on the same day but are growing at differnt rates why is that?

some were born before others, some are runts, the bigger ones get more food

Thats the way it goes in nature, the stronger get more food.

I dont know if this is the case with swordtails, but if I dont keep my largest dwarf gourami fry well fed, they will turn and actually eat the smaller fry in the tank with them. Its a rough world!

Speaking from personal experience they will eat each other, a lot it seems. They dissapeared about 1 a week. I started with 7 swordtail fry, I now have 3. The big one is still pestering the smaller 2. I would think you could save more if you had a tank with some plants and decent sized. I have them in a small breeder tank not anyplace to really hide. I basically overfed them and they still ate each other.
