Synodontis in Planted Tanks?

I have what looks like a Synodontis eupterus which is 6" + in my planted 90 and he/she I think it's female gives me a run for my money, I have seen them bigger. I would agree a group of cories would be better. Once the plants get or if they are establish and rooted I think that improves your chances.

Syno lucipinnis will stay smaller than petricola and looks very similar. They prefer to be with others of their species as well.

Well pretty much every Syno petricola you see on the market is actually Syno lucipinnis under the wrong name. It can be tough to find Syno lucipinnis, but easy to find mislabeled syno petricola :)

Would upside down catfish work better?

Yeah synodontis nigriventris/upside down catfish work better they're smaller, 9-10 cm/just under 4" i think. they need decor that they can hide upside down under though, like an overhanging branch/broad leaf or something. They're unique fish, need to get my hands on some, but I can't find anywhere they have them right now -.-

absolutely... mine have a slate/river rock tower they hardly ever come out from. they love their little pad. :grinyes: even my b/n's like to bunk with them from time to time. very peaceful fish... i just love when they come out far enough to get a good look at them. reminds me of my uncles old s/w tank full of surprises lurking in the dark/sifting sand/etc.. i know, i'm a little :screwy: with my favorite fish being the ones i hardly ever see.

LOL!

I saw some today at the pet store but I don't quite trust the store and I just don't know how well they do once they are transferred to my tank, or if they are sick or anything.
