Hey everyone, my family's pond has a small problem... yesterday we noticed that a whole bunch of our babies this year seem to have ich. All the babies are still black and the little white spots show up really well. My dad bought a product called Paracide Green to use. The problem is, we bought two tadpoles at the beginning of the season that are also in the pond. Anyone know if this product will harm them? Or is there a product that works that will not harm them? Or, our other plan is to try and catch the tadpoles out of there and bring them into an indoor aquarium for the treatment. Anyone with a suggestion maybe on a good way to catch them besides draining the whole pond? Thanks for any input!

Tadpoles will often enter an unbaited minnow trap. I doubt you will kill them with an ich medication, though.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica][SIZE=-1]You need to be careful with this product as overdosing can kill both your fish and the tadpoles. This will work very quickly to kill of the ich but it can harm your water quality.

Killing the ich in a pond will be very difficult so I would take all of your fish out of the pond and treat them in a tank with warm water (83-85F) and salt (if you can). You will have to remove all of the fish if you can so you can starve out the parasite in the pond. If you can't remove the fish you will have to treat the entire pond with the Paracide green.

Pulling them out of the pond isn't really an option for us right now... although we have some larger tanks, they are alll currently stocked right now. It isn't their natural coloration because when a baby with ich swims next to a baby without it, you can definitely tell those tiny white spots on its fins and body shouldn't be there. If the pond is treated with that Paracide Green, will it cause an algae burst? or should i look for nitrite spikes? thanks again for all of the help!
