I have a few week old brood of angelfish fry. I've had the breeding pair since they were jeuvinile's themselves. Just about all the fish I have are (so it would seem) happy to see me. Or just conditioned (whatever) So up untill about a week or so ago my striped angel was happy to see me too. But recently he is aggressive towards me. As soon as he see's me he bolts towards me and takes a devensive posture. He sits there and looks at me and twitches. (For those that have seen "Eddie Murphies" stand up- it's like when eddie gets into a fight and hes trying to intimidate the guy)Not that it really matters much. But the problem is that when I open the lid to feed them he tries to bite me and jumps at me. Today he actually jumped out of the tank at me! Like a few feet out. He startled me and I took about 10 seconds to get him back into the tank. I now plop the food into the tank and close it quick. I dont want my angel to die on the floor. I'm finding it dificult to do water changes LOL I have to put the vacuum in the hole where the filter is and get the water level to a point he can't jump from.
I know that breeding angels are aggressive but this seems abnormal behavior. He's never acted like this before. Could this increased aggression have anything to do with a disease of some sort? maybe it's in pain and acting out? Protecting his fry? Or I'm just on glue?
